HART,
Mich. (WZZM) - Michigan State Police today began moving
back in to their old post in Hart, thanks to funds found
by a local lawmaker.
The troopers are out of a trailer that's served as their
Oceana County office and are now back in their old building.
For 18 months, the Hart Police Post on Post Road stood empty.
The post closed in October 2007 because of state budget cuts,
but Monday troopers started moving back in.
Troopers have been working out of a trailer across the street.
A local family leased the facility to the state for $1 a
year in order to keep troopers in Oceana County. The structure
served its purpose, but was too small for permanent use.
The state now owns the old building. Post commanders says
everyone is excited to call the building home again.
Representative Goeff Hansen from Hart helped secure state
funding to buy the building. The post will open Wednesday.
